Football legend, Diego Maradona 'to undergo surgery after doctors detect internal bleeding in his stomach' Diego Maradona is reportedly set to undergo surgery in Argentina after suffering from a stomach bleed.   The 58-year old football legend had failed to show up for training at Mexican side Dorados where he is now a coach. It has now emerged that he has been admitted after internal bleeding in his stomach was detected during a routine check up.   Maradona was undergoing routine examinations in his homeland before returning to Mexico, where he is coach of second division side Dorados de Sinaloa, when doctors discovered the problem.  Argentine sports newspaper Ole said he would have an endoscopy at a clinic in Olivos, on the outskirts of the capital Buenos Aires with children Gianna, Janita and Diego Jr at his side. , 40-year old man in Jigawa state sets himself on fire after wife left him (Photo) The Jigawa State police command has said a 40- year-old-man, Abdullahi Jafaru, attempted to commit suicide after his wife, Halima, refused to return home following a dispute. According to a report by PremiumTimes, Abdullahi poured petrol on himself and set himself ablaze in Shunar, Kafin Hausa LGA of the State. The Jigawa police spokesperson, Audu Jinjiri, said on December 31, 2018, Halima left her matrimonial home because of a misunderstanding with her husband. Jinjiri said attempts made by Jafaru to convince Halima, his first of two wives, to return were unsuccessful. The couple reportedly have six children together. Not being able to convince his wife, a troubled Jafaru then poured petrol on himself and set himself ablaze. He was, however, rescued and rushed to the hospital. But while still on the sick bed receiving treatment, Jafaru has continued calling Halima’s name,

DJ Xgee's body laid to rest one day after allegedly committing suicide The remains of Seun Omogaji aka DJ Xgee who allegedly committed suicide moments after leaving a suicide note on Instagram on Wednesday, January 2nd 2019, has been laid to rest. DJ Xgee was buried today January 3rd. He is survived by his wife of five years and they are blessed with two children. May his soul rest in peace, Amen.

, 5.0 magnitude earthquake hits Japan Its just a few days into the New Year and an earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5.0 has struck Japan’s Kumamoto Prefecture in the central part of Southwestern Kyushu Island. There were no immediate reports of major damage or injuries as a result of the inland quake and no tsunami warning issued by the Japan Meteorological Agency (JMA). According to the JMA, the temblor, which occurred at 6.10 p.m. local time has its epicenter at a latitude of 33.0 degrees north and a longitude of 130.6 degrees east. The quake originated at a depth of 10 km, the JMA also said, adding that the powerful earthquake logged lower 6 on the Japanese seismic intensity scale and peaked at 7 in some areas of Kumamoto Prefecture. In nearby areas of Fukuoka, the quake registered 4 on Japan’s seismic scale and 3 in the surrounding prefectures of Saga, Nagasaki, Oita and Miyazaki. , Gunmen kill Mexican mayor, Alejandro Santiago on first day in office A local mayor in Mexico, Alejandro Aparicio Santiago, was shot dead on his first day of office on New Year’s Day.   Santiago who is the Mayor of Tlaxiaco, was walking to his first official meeting at city hall shortly after taking office when a group of gunmen opened fire, according to a statement from the prosecutor’s office of Mexico’s southern state of Oaxaca.   Governor Alejandro Murat of Oaxaca confirmed the killing of Santiago via Twitter on Tuesday and condemned Santiago’s slaying, promising a thorough investigation. He said a suspect was already in custody. Between September 2017 and August 2018, 175 politicians were killed in Mexico, NPR reported, citing the consulting firm Etellekt.

, Unknown gunmen kill four, injure three in fresh Kaduna attack on New Year's eve The Kaduna State Police Command on Monday confirmed gunmen attack on Katura village in Kajuru Local Government Area of the state where four persons were killed.   The Command’s spokesman, DSP Yakubu Sabo said they received a distress call at about 02:45am and immediately mobilised to the affected community as ordered by the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Abdurahman.     “We(command)received a distress call at about 02:45am early hours of today(Monday) that there was an attack by unknown gunmen who invaded the Katura village and starting shooting indiscriminately and in the process four persons were killed and three injured.”   He said the police commissioner also directed the Federal SARS and anti-riot police of the command to search the affected community with a view to fishing out the culprits.
